Working with a counselor will allow FORT clients to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles and recovery management skills to utilize with family members and loved ones. All counselors hold a thorough understanding of the organization’s philosophy of treating both the individual struggling with addiction through outpatient treatment, and the family experiencing their loved one’s addiction through the FORT program. Counselors have extensive knowledge and background of substance abuse and any co-occurring diagnoses. Our counselors are responsible for ensuring that clinical services are provided for all clients in accordance with government and accreditation regulations. Lehigh County’s Drug and Alcohol Administration (Lehigh County Single County Authority- SCA) contracted with MARS to provide assessment services, case management and psychoeducational groups for inmates in Lehigh County Jail. The program utilizes an embedded MARS case manager and clinician to manage and conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial drug and alcohol assessments with inmates in the jail setting and then link them to appropriate treatment services. Upon completion of a referred inmate’s assessment by a MARS clinician, the case manager serves as a liaison between the county’s criminal justice staff, correctional staff, SCA staff, and treatment facility staff to coordinate the inmate’s placement into appropriate SUD treatment. The process provides an efficient means to reduce the time inmates languish in jail prior to receiving needed treatment and ensures a warm hand off from incarceration to treatment services. Additionally, the MARS clinician conducts series of psychoeducational groups for inmates which provide treatment readiness, education and support.
